I was a little surprised when I picked the inspectors up at the airport. Every other inspection I have hosted the inspectors have been middle aged and wearing suits. These inspectors were very young and very casually dressed. That didn’t mean they weren’t very strict with their judging though. They told us at the inspection that the Oldenburg Verband was much tougher than any other registry. She said you could add one point to the score you got from them to any other registry.

I was very pleased with my scores. I had two mares and they were both entered into the main mare book. There were many pretty mares and foals. Dave Herndon brought three mares and foals from Cave Junction . Gale Atkins brought her Welsh pony mare with a foal. They were really cute. There is a division in the Oldenburg Verband for ponies. We had a few out of town people who were really nice. One of them brought a mare who was out of Briar 899. She had been bred to a son of Sandro Hit and they were presenting the foal.

My gelding was inspected and was registered. While my stallion looked beautiful he completely refused to show off his movement. I was very disappointed. When I spoke to the inspectors about it, she literally waved me away, saying, “Don’t worry about it. We could tell by the was he is built that he moves beautifully. Just wait until next year and present him as a stallion. He will do great” So that is the best news I could have. If she had said he will make a nice gelding, I would have gelded him, but she said to wait a year, so that is what I am doing.  I did get some great shots of Sly at the inspection.  You can see them at my web site vickibauer.com.
